| INSPIRING FEEDBACK FROM TEN MONTH NOVEL AND SCRIPT FIRST DRAFT COURSE Below is feedback from participants in a recent Ten Month Novel and Script First Draft Course. Eveyone who completed the course came up with a very strong first draft. JULIA. It was an amazing ten months full of excitement, fun, hard work, anxiety attacks, making new friends and writing, writing, writing. I've done it. It's there. All ten or so notebooks filled with scribbles. I have a story now. I loved this course. It made my life so full with a full time job and family even more complete. Discoveries were there around the corner, things waiting to happen, life to unfold. ELIZABETH. This course has been a remarkable experience, forcing me to relax my over-dominant judgemental muscle in order to touch the deep, secret, river of the unconscius that flows down there somewhere and connects us all with something wiser and smarter than the conscious self. I am constantly amazed that so deceptively simple a process can yield such a complex unexpected result. SHARI. I have now written the first draft of my first novel. A quarter century dream has come true. I have learned that I love to write. LIZ. I learnt about the rythm of breaking scenes down into small beats and building with Roland's famous bricks of detail. I learnt writing is the thing, forget perfection. I can't remember not being totally absorbed once I got going, but the important point was starting - sitting, opening the book and picking up the pen. Writing by hand was a far more intimate experience of connecting with my imagination while revealing my characters' journey and a few revelations about myself too. DAVID. I'm surprised what is created on the page when I don't get in the way and don't try to be perfect first time. I read differently now and feel that I appreciate the whole process of story telling more. CARL. I learnt that you can't see what the story is at the beginning. If you get jaded keep writing because it wears off. I learnt how conflict works and how things don't work without it. Always put something down then there's something to change. The story evolves by itself. I think I am responsible, but sometimes I'm not sure. Taught me about how my life works as well. More
